A familiar face at the time of a loss can help provide comfort
to a grieving family. The staff at Mehl's Colonial Chapel is just
Claudia Mehl, who took over the family business with her brother,
Ed, and sister, Dianne, in 1985, is a licensed funeral director and
is here daily to help families. In her off time, she is kept
busy by her three daughters Gina, Lea, and Josie, and
grandchildren, Ava, Kate, and Cash.
Ed Powell has 30 years experience at Mehl's alone. He is an
experienced funeral counselor, licensed embalmer, and insurance
agent. Ed retired in 2011 and is enjoying his leisure time
and traveling as much as possible. Still, he is always
available to help out with a funeral service or assist a family
with preplanning their final wishes.
Treasa Lucas is a licensed embalmer and funeral director and has
been at Mehl's since 2002. She loves spending her free time
with her two boys and her dogs and enjoys cooking.
Orlando Guerra has been employed since 2005 as a bilingual
funeral counselor and funeral attendant. He enjoys spending
his off time from the business with his wife and two boys more than
Paula Hernandez is a bilingual funeral counselor and funearl
attendant who has been with Mehl's full time since 2009. From
2001 to 2009 she had worked part time at Mehl's. She enjoys
her day trips to the casinos and considers herself lucky. She
also loves to cook for family and friends.
Leo Ferrel is a bilingual funeral counselor and funeral
attendant and has been with Mehl's since 2008. He loves
spending time with his daughter, keeping fit, boxing, and
Christopher Gordon is new to Watsonville and works at Mehls as a
funeral counselor and embalmer. He comes from the bay area
and enjoys video editing and snowboarding in his off time.
Delia Schekman helps out part time in the evenings and on
weekends when she can. She works full time for the Pajaro
Valley Unified School District.
Evan Mehl, Ed's son, helps out part time as a funeral attendant
and also assists in many other duties.
