Bonnie Louise Mahler passed away peacefully at her home in Aromas on June 8, 2019. She had most recently celebrated her 85th birthday on March 10th with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren present. Bonnie was born and lived her entire life in the community she loved, Aromas. She passed in the family home that she and late husband Paul R. Mahler built together over 60 years ago.
Bonnie was a woman of many talents and accomplishments. She was a successful business woman who owned and operated both a beauty shop in her early adult years, and later in life, a popular Aromas deli café called the Ducky Deli. She served on both the Aromas Water Board and Local School Board. Bonnie and generations of ancestral family who also lived in Aromas, made Bonnie somewhat of an expert on her beloved community’s history. She also taught Sunday school at her community church while raising her children. She was a successful real estate associate and developer as well. Bonnie loved relaxing in the outdoors. She loved boating, camping, gardening and just about any activity that involved celebrating life with family and friends. More than anything else, Bonnie cherished her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and mentor to countless people in her life time. She believed in giving back to her community, family, and friends and touched many lives in that endeavor. She truly embodied the meaning of a life well lived.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Ken (Brenda) Mahler, Cindy (Paul) Lerma, Kevin (Melanie) Mahler, all of Aromas; siblings Karen Mendonca, and Neil Marshall of Aromas. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kevin (Christina) Mahler, Kyle (Jazmin) Mahler, Shawn Lerma, Megan (Julian) Arias, Ignacio Lopez, Alli (Reno) Morella , and Cody (Jessika) Mahler; great-grandchildren, Shealyn, Kenny, Emma, Luke, and Everette; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019, from 11 am- 2 pm at the Aromas Grange Hall. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
