Mario Gonzalez passed away peacefully at a local nursing center on August 13, 2019. He was 68.
Mario Gonzalez was born to Guadalupe and Margarita Gonzalez on January 14, 1951, in Calexico, CA. on January 14, 1951. He was raised in Watsonville and attended local schools and graduated in 1971 from California School of the Deaf in Berkley, California. He worked at West Coast Farms for many years and enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants. He also liked watching his sports, traveling and being surrounded by his family and when visiting you could always catch him watching his favorite movie “Jaws.” Although you could never borrow it, he always had an open spot next to him and an extra box of Fiddle Faddle to share.
Mario Gonzalez is survived by four brothers: Gregory (Maria de Jesus), Moises, John, and Guadalupe (Concepcion) Gonzalez; seven sisters, Felicia Medrano, Margaret Gonzalez, Paula Hernandez, Barbara Padilla, Leticia (Ramon) Romero, Hilda (Richard) Angeles, and Marina (Adam) Antuna; and numerous, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe and Margarita Gonzalez and sister Violet Gonzalez.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
