Nicolas Halican Banez

December 2, 1919 ~ November 2, 2018 (age 98)

Nicolas Banez died at his home surrounded by his loved ones on November 2, 2018. He was 98. Nicolas was born December 2, 1919 to Lazaro and Luncia Banez in the Philippines. He arrived in the U.S. in 1973 to reunite with his wife Ramona of 67 years. Soon after, he worked in agriculture. He enjoyed making furniture, taking in stray animals, gardening, and working on his truck. He is preceded in death by his wife Ramona and daughter Norma and is survived by his children; Connie Isidro (TX), Adelina Du (Aromas), Caridad Orejudos (Visalia), Nestor (Las Lomas), Bernardita De Mayo (Aromas), Joey (Aromas), Estrella Bayuga (Watsonville), Robert (Salinas), 22 grandchildren, 44 great- grandchildren, and 6 great-great- grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel Monday November 12, 2018 from 5-9pm with the Rosary recited at 7pm. Mass with be held Tuesday November 13, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 10 am with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.
