Alexander G. Gonzalez, 56, passed away suddenly on August 6, 2021, in Watsonville, CA. He was born on February 3, 1965, in Watsonville to Alejandro D. Gonzalez and Mary Connie (Gamez) Gonzalez.
Alex was a lifelong resident of Watsonville, and he began working at various jobs at a young age. During high school, Alex did land-scaping jobs to earn money while he kept up with school, and played football, which kicked off a love for the sport. He graduated from Aptos High School in 1984. Alex held several jobs over the next few years, such as a security guard for First Alarm and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. He worked for a paving company, and he worked as a truck driver and learned how to operate various types of semi-trucks, belly dumps, and heavy equipment.
Then in 1990, Alex worked at Waste Management of Santa Cruz County for ten years as a Roll Off Driver, during which Alex married Jane in 1992, and they were happily married just shy of 29 wonderful years. During this time, they had three sons, Dylan, Colby, and Luca. Wanting to spend more time with his firstborn son, Alex decided it was time to quit Waste Management and work for the City of Watsonville as an Integrated Waste Worker. In 2019 Alex was promoted to Sr. Integrated Waste Worker and was still working in this capacity upon his sudden passing.
Alex was a beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved his family well, and nothing brought him greater pleasure than cheering on his sons at a school function or sporting event. Alex had a deep faith and trusted in God’s plan. He was a hard-working, kind-hearted man of integrity who wouldn’t pass up the chance to lend someone a hand.
Alex is survived by his spouse, Jane Gonzalez, and his three sons, Dylan Gonzalez, Colby Gonzalez, and Luca Gonzalez. He also leaves behind five siblings, numerous nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends. Alex was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dolores Mosqueda.
A memorial service will be held at Twin Lakes Church, 2701 Cabrillo College Drive, Aptos, CA 95003 at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021, with Pastor Paul Spurlock officiating.
