IN LOVING MEMORY OF BING HING WONG 黃炳興
Bing Hing Wong, 87, passed away in his home on November 5, 2021. He was born in mainland China on March 8, 1934 and endured many hardships in his childhood. Separated from his birth family and offered little education, he overcame those early challenges by teaching himself to read and write -- ultimately acquiring sufficient trade skills to support himself. He finally achieved the joy of having a family of his own after marrying his wife, Di Ding Wong, and becoming a father to two boys. He made the decision to immigrate to the United States in 1985 in hopes of a better life for his wife and children.
A loving father and a devoted husband, he worked tirelessly his whole life to provide for the family he loved. He became a chef at a popular Chinese restaurant in Watsonville, providing over 20 years of great meals and smiles to the community. In retirement, he remained a constant, joyful presence within the local Chinese community. Many will also remember his talents as a musician, often playing the “Chinese violin” (Erhu) for the enjoyment of friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, two sons (Siu Yung Wong and Siu Hang Wong), and four grandsons (Anthony Wong, Diego Wong, Emilio Wong and Gael Wong).
