Francisco Cortes was born in Catarina, Jalisco on October 4, 1957 and passed away on December 27, 2020. He was 63 years old. Francisco immigrated to the United States when he was 18-years-old, working in the agricultural fields for 10 years, before building his own Landscaping business. By the age of 30, he had learned English by taking night classes at Cabrillo College, and by the age of 40 he had obtained his contractors state license and began his own corporation. His drive, internal motivation, and aspirations led him to run his own, successful company for 33 years. Francisco had a passion and love for working closely with people and creating beautiful landscapes. Francisco enjoyed traveling, reading, the beach, salsa dancing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his mother Arcelia Veronica, ex-wife Rebeca Vizcaino, four children, Claudia Carter, Maribel Jimenez, Audry Kodama (Jason Kodama) and Noe Cortes. He also leaves behind his beloved and cherished grandchildren, Jason, Carlos Jr, Damian, Briana and Jacob. Brothers, Juan Carlos, Luis Fernando, and Alonso Cortes. He was preceded in death by his father Juan Cortes, and his brother Pedro Cortes.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a small outside viewing (masks required) will take place January 14th from 3pm to 7pm (Rosary to start at 5:30pm) at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. A mass will take place on January 15th at 10am, Our Lady of Help of Christians (Valley Church). Burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
