George John Teixeira

March 25, 1934 ~ August 10, 2021 (age 87)

George John Teixeira passed away at the age of 87 on August 10, 2021, after a brief illness in Watsonville.

George was born on March 25, 1934, raised as the only child of parents John and Olivia Teixeira in San Jose, California. After George was born, the Teixeira family moved to Patterson, California, where George completed his education. After graduating High School, he was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean War. Upon returning home, he met his wife Mercedes and briefly lived in Monterey. They were married for 58 years. He eventually settled down in Watsonville and proceeded to live there for over 60 years.

George was a master mechanic, he worked at Coast Gas and Salinas Disposal where he retired. In his younger years, George enjoyed working on his family and friends’ vehicles. He was a jack-of-all-trades and a master of all. Everything he built would have to be heavy duty. He would create his own inventions, proudly showing them to family and friends.

He leaves behind his son Richard (Magda) Teixeira, daughter Lucy (Manuel) Rodrigues, as well as five grandchildren, Kayla, Jasper, and Niccolas Teixeira, Spencer and Phoebe Rodrigues. George also leaves behind his sister-in-law Celeste Luis, his brothers-in-law Albano and Dennis Bettencourt and numerous nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his wife Mercedes.
