Jose Manuel “Nelo” Torres Perez, a lifelong resident of Watsonville, passed away on November 21, 2021. He was 34 years old.
Nelo was a hardworking person, he worked in landscaping with his father, as well as being an arborist. He was very affectionate and outgoing, he always showed empathy to others. His pride and joy was his daughter Galilea, whom he adored. He loved music, golfing, video games, and watching football, he was an avid 49ers and Chivas fan. He was really proud of his 2019 Ford Ranger. But most of all, he loved hanging out with his family and friends. Overall, Nelo’s best quality was his big heart, he was always giving without expecting anything in return.
He is survived by his longtime partner, Sandra Magaña, his beloved daughter Galilea, his parents, Manuel Torres and Maria Guadalupe Perez, and siblings, Arturo Torres, Jose Eduardo Torres, Emanuel Torres, Samuel Cisneros, and Vanessa (Andrew Julian) J. Torres. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as many good friends who knew him as “Kunta”. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Concha, and his best friend David.
Viewing and rosary will be at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, from 5-10pm, with rosary starting at 7pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Valley Catholic Cemetery on Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at 10am, with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
