Leobarda Rios de Zuñiga (Barajas), a longtime resident of Watsonville, born on January 18, 1945, to parents Mateo Rios and Tomasa Barajas, died on July 10, 2021. She was 76 years old.
Leobarda was a wonderful mother and wife who enjoyed cooking for her family, spending the afternoons sitting outside on a bench with her husband, and going to the mall and restaurants with her daughters. But her favorite thing to do was taking care of her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Hilario Zuñiga Carrion, her children; Marcela, Josefina, Armando, Ana Laura, Alejandra, Mateo, and Adriana Zuñiga Rios, and siblings; Asuncion, Sidronia, Florencia, Francisca, Alicia, Sanjuana, Teresa, Hilario, and Eliseo Rios Barajas. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons Jorge Luis and Ruben Rios Zuñiga, and her sister Guadalupe.
A viewing will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel 222 East Lake Avenue on Saturday, July 24, 2021, from 4-10pm, with rosary starting at 7pm.
