Manuel Amabilino Trindade, a long-time resident of Watsonville, died on May 16, 2021. He was born in Sao Jorge, Azores, on September 15, 1937, and immigrated to Watsonville in May of 1973.
He initially worked as a farm worker until he landed a job at Phillips Driscopipe, Inc., where he worked for many years until his retirement. He was quick-witted, funny, a very hard worker, and a dedicated father. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, helping others, and volunteering at the Azorean/Portuguese Hall and with various community cultural events. Anyone who knew him knows about his love for his homeland as well as his talent for “telling a story”, especially humorous tales about our ancestors.
He is survived by his wife Albertina of 60 years, his 4 children, and his 6 beautiful grandchildren. A viewing will be May 27, 2021, 4-6 pm with Rosary at 6:00 pm at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel 222 E.
