Michael Danny Kilburger
July 24, 1944 ~ Dec. 1, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Michael “Mike” Danny Kilburger announces his passing on December 1, 2020, at the age of 76.
Mike was born on July 24, 1944, in San Bernardino, California, and moved to Santa Cruz, CA. in 1954. At a young age, Mike discovered his passion for fishing, often selling his daily catch to Stagnaro’s Fish Market on the Santa Cruz Wharf. His love for fishing remained one of his greatest joys.
Mike worked as a senior mechanic for 25 years at Lipton Tea Company of Santa Cruz, Ca. After retiring from Lipton Tea, Mike started a second career as a mover/driver at Lambert & Sons Moving Company. In later years, Mike faced personal challenges and focused on healing and rebuilding his relationships and life. Mike loved working out at the gym, animals (especially horses and dogs), Western movies and music, playing classical guitar, and of course, fishing. He also found great joy exploring flea markets with his daughter Michelle, searching for antiques and any treasures that caught his eye.
Mike will be remembered by his children, Danny (Toni) Kilburger, Eva Kilburger, Michelle (Brian) Kilburger Freiermuth, Shawn (Honami) Kilburger Thomas, Travis Kilburger, Shannon Kilburger, Justin Kilburger and Cody Kilburger. Mike also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, his sister Janis English, and brother John Walbridge. Mike is preceded in death by his beloved young daughter, Pamela Sue Kilburger, his sister Julie Barge, and his mother and stepfather Nelva & John Walbridge.
Mike will be forever grateful to the loving and dedicated care provided by Dr. Christopher O’Grady and the nurses and care providers at Valley Convalescent Hospital. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
