Pedro "Pete" Avelar (Garcia) was born on August 3rd 1965 in Nochistlan, Zacatecas, Mexico. He came to the U.S. as a young boy at the age of 8 years old with his mother and his two younger siblings and settled here in Watsonville.
He enjoyed the outdoors and going on longs walks. Camping and BB-Q’s were some of his favorite hobbies. He married the love of his life, Angela Hernandez in 1993. Family members and friends would describe him as an unselfish, caring person who would give the shirt off of his back to any stranger in need. He enjoyed collecting memorabilia and miscellaneous antiques. He enjoyed music and spending time with friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Angela Avelar, his surrogate daughter, Jessica Diaz, his new grandson, Josiah, his mother, Isabel Avelar, and his siblings; Paul Garcia, Carlos Avelar, Refugio (Cookie) Garcia, Carmen Puga, Freddie Garcia, Lupe Garcia and Terry Garcia. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he adored tremendously.
After a long battle with a terrible infection, he lost his life on Tuesday, June 29 2021. He will be dearly missed. We love you and we will never forget you.
