Roberto S. Rodriguez passed away on March 19, 2021. He was 87. Roberto was born to Martin Rodriguez and Neives Saldana in San Diego, Texas on December 26, 1933. He joined the military and was stationed at Fort Ord in Marina, California. He married the love of his life, Maria Luisa Gonzalez, in 1955.
Roberto was active with P.V. Youth Football and St. Francis High School football with his son, Robert Jr., where he was known to many as, “Pops.” He helped his daughter-in-law, Mabel, run HAVOC Skate Shop. After retiring from UCSC, he enjoyed spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren; devoting his time as the family handyman and plant doctor. He was a dedicated member as an usher and treasurer at St. Patrick’s Church.
Roberto is preceded in death by his wife, Maria. He is survived by his sons: Robert Jr. and Ronnie, daughters-in-law: Mabel and Trudy, grandchildren: Derek, David, Tyler, Sarah, Ryan, and Zachary, and great grandchildren: Aurora, Mason, and Rowan.
The visitation will be on 4/5/21 at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel from 9am-12:30pm with a rosary at 10am. Mass will begin at 1pm at St. Patrick’s with the burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
