Rosa "Rosy" Rugerio, 71, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on June 6th 2022 after her long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Rosa was born on January 4th, 1951 and was a long life resident of Watsonville. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and her beloved pets Mac and Smokey. Rosa was a die-hard Raiders fan and enjoyed watching them play. She loved dancing and listening to music. She especially loved shopping.
Rosa is preceded in death by her parents Sally Lopez Rugerio and Placido Rugerio. Rosa is survived by her three children Leslie Portugal (Rudy), Francisco "Guero" Valadez (Liz) and Jose Luis "Gordo" Ramos. Her grandchildren Angel Diaz, Celia Portugal and Anthony Portugal. Her brothers Alex, Louie, and Fernando Rugerio and her sister Sandy Gawaran (Dennis). Her lifelong friend of 60 years Margaret Gomez. Her Uncles and Aunts, Jaime & Carmen Lopez, John & Sarah Sotomayor and Natalia Zepeda along with numerous nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be held Tuesday June 14th, 2022 at Mehl's Colonial Chapel located at 222 East Lake Ave from 3pm-9pm with Rosary at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10am Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church followed by burial at Watsonville Catholic Cemetery located at 1456 Freedom Blvd.
