Sara Ramirez Arredondo passed away on January 20th, 2020. She was 81. Sara was born in Coalcoman, Michoacan, Mexico on September 1st, 1938 to Guadalupe and Trinidad Arredondo. Orphaned by her mother at a young age, she struggled through her teens, till 1957 when the birth of her first child gave her new meaning. In 1959, she started heading northward, to give her children a better life, ending up in Watsonville in 1965, where she met her husband, Pancho. She worked various jobs, ending up at the Watsonville Cannery for 40 years. She was an independent woman who worked hard to achieve the American Dream, and bought homes for all 3 of her sons. Sara volunteered her time at St. Patrick’s Parish, where she was entrusted with washing the Priests’ gowns, and was requested to do funeral rosaries for many people in the church. She had many friends, and a mind so sharp that, even till the end, she remembered each one’s phone number and birthday.
Sara is preceded in death by her husband Pancho; sons Rafael and Javier; and 4 brothers: Maldo, Maurilio, Ramon, and Jorge. She is survived by her sons Jose, Carlos, and Uriel; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grand child.
A visitation will be held at St. Patrick’s on January 27th, 2020 from 4:30-9pm with a Rosary at 7pm. Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s, Tuesday, January 28th at 11 am. Burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
