Suzanne Morales Moreno passed away on April 23, 2020. She was 51. Suzanne was born on July 2, 1968 at the Community Hospital in Santa Cruz Ca. At the age of nine, she received the gift of the Holy Ghost, and at the age of twelve; she was baptized by her father Rev. Ruben A. Moreno. She enjoyed listening to music, singing, and reading fiction and non-fiction books. At the age of five, she started singing hymn at the “Potter’s” House. She continued singing for the next 40 years. She directed the “Praise Team”, and was asked to sing at weddings. Her first job was at a teller for Watsonville Federal Bank, IHSS Social Services, and then as her parents caregiver. She graduated with her brother Richard from Cabrillo College and majored in Banking and Finances.
Despite many physical challenges, she never complained. She raised funds for the “Wharf to Wharf” to bring awareness for cancer research, at U.C.S.F. She would share books with friends and family. Her favorite Psalm was the 23rd. Her mother referred to her as “My angel”, and her father called her “My Baby”. Suzanne was soft-spoken, had a kindred spirit, and a ready smile for everyone.
In 2017, she undergone chemotherapy. For one session; she got up after the treatment, walked to the car, and said “Let’s sing ‘Oh Happy Days’”. Later, she walked near the ocean, raised her hand, and started praising God; thanking him for her life. This was one of her attributes, which people who knew her well, admired about her.
One night, she told her mom she was tired, wanted to go home, and that she fought a good fight. Suzanne is survived by her parents Ruben and Rosie Moreno, sister Anna Brito, brothers; Ruben and Richard (Violet) Moreno, nephews; Joseph Brito, Daniel and his sister Sophie Moreno, niece Jennifer Johnson, numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Her life will be celebrated with songs and special memories at the Cornerstone Church at a later day.
