Victor Lewis ~ November 3, 1947 – July 7, 2021

Victor Lewis passed away at home with his wife and son by his side after a courageous battle against metastatic prostate cancer.

Vic was born in Phoenix, Arizona to parents Bert and Thelma Lewis. He graduated from Watsonville High School in 1965 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1971. He was stationed on Midway Island for one year and then aboard the USS Pivot, a minesweeper stationed off the coast of Viet Nam. After his discharge, he attended Cabrillo College earning three AS degrees under the GI Bill.

Vic worked for the County of Monterey Public Works Department for 41 years. He retired as Maintenance Manager in 2007. He formed many friendships with co-workers and after retiring continued to go fishing and hunting with several of them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy, son Randall and his wife Coco, his grandchildren whom he loved dearly; Kendra, Georgianna, Ryan, Nicolas and Shane, nieces; Sheila Cobos (Merced), Brenda Peterson (Rick), and his nephew Darrell Pullam. He was predeceased by son Joel in 2018, his sister Bertie Sue in 2008, and his parents-in-law Noel and Georgianna (Joy) West in 2003.

The family would like to thank Dr. O’Grady for the wonderful care he provided throughout Vic’s illness, the nurses at Watsonville Community Hospital who took care of him during his 12-day stay and to Hospice of Santa Cruz County nurses for their loving care, support, and comfort after his return home.

In honor of Vic’s wishes, a private family service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held at some point in the future.
