Claudia Mehl

Managing Partner/ Funeral Director

Granddaughter of Carl and Anita and daughter of Jim Mehl, Claudia Mehl has been the managing partner since 1985. She has strived to assist every family that walks into the funeral home as if they were her own family. With her nephew, Evan Mehl, coming into the business as the fourth generation, she is planning on taking more time off to spend with her three daughters and six grand children, to travel more, and to donate time to volunteer within the community.

Evan Mehl


Evan Mehl, great- grandson of Carl and Anita Mehl, 5th generation Watsonville native, and 4th generation of the Mehl's family business, started working at Mehl's at the age of 18. He's worked services and  helped with other tasks around the funeral home. In 2018, Evan transitioned full- time to meeting with families, working services, and managing Mehl's, where he will continue his family's legacy. His hobbies include; working out, attending sporting events, and doing whatever he can to improve his family's business. Evan believes in " Respectfully, treating every person and family the same."

Amanda Calzadias

Funeral Director/ Embalmer/ Trade Embalmer/ Great Western Insurance Agent

Amanda has been with Mehl's since April of 2017. She is a licensed Embalmer, Funeral Director, and Great Western Insurance Agent. Amanda has been in the industry for 12 years and is very passionate about her career and the care for our families. On her time off, she enjoys attending music events, playing guitar, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones. Amanda considers herself blessed to be apart of such a compassionate team and to have had the chance to grow in all aspects of the funeral industry.

Ed Powell

Great Western Insurance Agent

Has over 30 years experience at Mehl's alone. He is an experienced funeral counselor, licensed embalmer, and insurance agent.  Ed retired in 2011 and is enjoying his leisure time and traveling as much as possible.  Still, he is always available to help out with a funeral service or assist a family with preplanning their final wishes.

Orlando Guerra

Funeral Counselor

Has been employed since 2005 as a bilingual funeral counselor and funeral attendant.  He enjoys spending his off time from the business with his wife and two boys more than anything else.

Paula Hernandez

Funeral Counselor

A bilingual funeral counselor and funearl attendant who has been with Mehl's full time since 2009.  From 2001 to 2009 she had worked part time at Mehl's.  She enjoys her day trips to the casinos and considers herself lucky.  She also loves to cook for family and friends.

Leo Ferrel

Funeral Counselor

A bilingual funeral counselor and funeral attendant and has been with Mehl's since 2008.  He loves spending time with his family, keeping fit, boxing, and hiking.

Delia Schekman

Funeral Attendant

Helps out part time in the evenings and on weekends when she can.  She works full time for the Pajaro Valley Unified School District.
